In every issue, we insist that you check out the sidebar of the blog.magazine and read the hip in books, fashion, quotes, film, culture, politics and music. Turn up your speakers while you read and vibe to the neo-soul sounds of artists from back in the day and the present!!! This fall we are on our "A" game with interviews from the best in music, art, and literature. Check out our literary review of Jeanette Winterson's Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit. Read all about Latoya Luckett's new cd, Lady Love. Then get ready to read what's up with the author, poet, musician, and traveler: Camika Spencer -aka- Emotion Brown. Stay tuned. ~The blog is always open.

*Literature: Read along with the sofly.book.group. This fall's literary selection: Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit, by Jeanette Winterson. If you are into experimental fiction this is the book for you this season! The author writes an addictive read that takes you in a world that is full of religious valor and contradictions. Young Jeanette discovers that she has been adopted, not allowed to meet her biological mother, and sworn to evangelical testament. Winterson keeps you intrigued by her great storytelling skills. Fingers will keep turning the pages as you learn about Jeanette's new found sexual identity, subjection to exorcisms, and the meaning of -oranges are not the only fruit-.

What's sofly n Fall 2009: Heads up for our next literary selection: Praisesong for the Widow, by Paule Marshall. Experimental fiction is N this fall.

*Art: Mic_Controller, is what the email subject stated when this picture surfaced in our bag of goodies! Camika Spencer -aka- Emotion Brown is a nationally best selling author. Her books published to date, When All Hell Broke Loose, Cubicles, and He Had It Coming. The publisher of soflynmythirties got an exclusive interview with the author, singer, poet, and traveler of the world. Spencer, is wasting no time in her journey of creative bliss. Hitting up stages in Dallas, Texas, teacing creative writing classes, becoming a musical addition in the rock band Jonathon Tyler and The Northern Lights, and producing her own album this summer: Steller Sticker; it is her time. Meet Emotion Brown here: Mic_ Controller.

Take time to get your house in order, switch up colors, buy some thrifty pillows. Head to the kitchen and sip on some calming teas. Then get in your car and head to see the next installation at Project Row Houses this fall in Houston, Texas. Read our review of their show coming up featuring the works of Dallas/Houston artists. Each body of work  consists of installations.

*Music: Latoya Luckett did the best thing that some might call a sucka move... she left Destiny's Child. Luckett's sophomore album, Lady Love, provides a clear picture that she is hear to stay, can sing, and the move made a minute ago was the best one.  Luckett's talents as a singer, fashion guru, business owner, and motivational speaker are just a few things we learned about this Brown Suga Baby. Tracks we are bumping right now, Good To Me, Take Away Love, and Love RollerCoaster. Read about this R&B Sensation: Lady Love.

What's sofly this Fall: Download Jay Z's latest contribution to the rap game, The Blueprint 3. This is Hov's eleventh album to date. Then go to the music store and purchase the latest album by N'Dambi entitled: The Pink Elephant. Check out her album sampler in our BLOG!!!
