There are no manuals in cyberspace for a woman to use once she turns thirty years young. Many dread the day when it creeps up like a thief in the night. I thought I would lose my mind at the age of twenty-nine.
Since surpassing the mysterious number and turning thirty-two years younger in September of 08', I feel that I am now at a place where I can say it is time to face and absorb Grown Woman Status.
Think back when you were twenty-five, are you still doing the same things? If so, then you may need a therapy session. I had four sessions with a life coach earlier in 08'. I am not doing the same things, but accepting me is a daily challenge as a result of those sessions.
However, I can write freely without others looking over my shoulder. I make my own decisions. I have the pleasure of dating who I want without anyone saying two-cents about them. I graduated from The University of Houston with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in December of 2008, and will enter graduate school this spring.
I am not saying that my life is perfect, but day, by day, I am moving to a better place with myself. Ready to live, love, help others, and accept love in return.
What are your experiences like now in your early-mid-late thirties?
Are you happy with where you are in life?
Are you at Grown Woman Status?

My sofly moment in 2008:
Graduating from the University of Houston
receiving a B.A. in Creative Writing with a minor in African-American Studies.
The 33rd Year in 2009
I will be thirty-three years young in 2009 (September baby) and I believe that we are going to see a lot that we never imagined with the Obama Era. The change that he discussed throughout his campaign will occur in 2016. Yep, sorry peeps it will take that long. I am already pushing for votes.
If you see things for what they really are we are moving in to a global sphere of communication and connection. It is time to get your A-game on. Start a business, start a woman's group, grassroots= volunteering, read a book to a group of children weekly, be proactive in your community, buy green products, save up for a computer (then buy one), become spiritual, write a poem, make a dress, go abroad, go back to school, exercise, and love yourself. I was told in the worst of times we still have ART.
Art is going to be created and stars will be born in 2009! I mean this on a grassroots level of course (and by Faith)... we all have to create, teach, and share with others in our efforts for a better America-self.
If we only sit back and complain about our situation it will continue to be the way that it is currently and will never change. We hate Wall Street, we hate the WAR, we hate the last administration, we hate our situations. However, remember the bible says to love your enemy-first.
Take a step back and reexamine your situation in 2009 it may not be as bad as you think (someone always has it worse off than you).
If you have a sofly pick for 2009 email it to us:soflynmythirties@rock.com.
We have until December 09' to kick it before we switch to double digits.
